Prayers

Deuteronomy 25:1; 1:17; 16:19
We pray for the courts of our land that they would justify the righteous
and condemn the guilty, and that they would not show partiality but hear the
small as well as the great, that they would not take a bribe from the rich
nor show favoritism to the poor, that they would not be partial to the weak
nor defer to the mighty.
2 Samuel 23:3; 2 Chron 19:6-7; Exo 18:21; Amos 5:24
Make those who rule over us just, ruling in the fear of God. May those who
judge remember that they judge not for man but for the LORD.
Make them able and trustworthy, people who fear God and hate a bribe, that
justice may run down like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing
stream.
Psalm 2:3
We pray for all civil authorities in our land. May they rule our land as
Your servants, as those who carefully heed Your moral law in all their
decisions.
Protect us from tyrants who regard Your law as a bond to be broken and a
chain to be cast aside.
Psalm 2:8-12
O Lord, may our governing authorities recognize that You have given to Jesus
the nations for His inheritance and the ends of the earth for His possession.
May they serve You, O Lord, with fear, and rejoice before You with
trembling.
May they kiss the Son as an act of homage, lest His wrath be kindled but a
little and they perish in the way. For blessed are all those who put their
trust in Him.
Psalm 2:10-12
May our governors be wise and our judges be instructed. May they serve You
with fear, and rejoice with trembling. May they kiss the Son, lest He be
angry and they perish in the way
when His wrath is kindled but a little. For blessed are all those who put
their trust in Him.
Psalm 2:10-12
O Lord, we pray for the civil authorities whom You have raised up to govern
our nation. May the rulers of our land be wise and the judges of our courts
be instructed. May they serve You, O Lord, with fear, and rejoice before
You with trembling.
May they show proper homage to the Lord Jesus Christ, lest He be angry and
they perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little.
For blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
Psalm 72:11
We pray for our governing authorities. May they fall down before Him who is
the King of kings and Lord of lords, and may our nation serve Him.
Psalm 82:3-4; Rom 13:4
We pray for our civil government. Enable our magistrates to defend the
weak and fatherless, to do justice to the afflicted and the destitute, to
rescue the weak and the needy, and to deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
May those who govern our land never be a terror to good works, but ever be
a terror to evil.
Psalm 105:22; Isaiah 11:2-3
Counsel our counselors, and teach our elders wisdom.
O give them a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and
might, a spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD, to make them
delight in the fear of the LORD.
Psalm 138:4-5
We pray for our governing authorities. May they hear the words of Your mouth,
O Lord, and praise You. Yes, may our governing authorities sing of Your
ways, O Lord, for great is Your glory.
Psalm 138:4-5
O Lord, we pray for our government on all levels: local, state and national.
May all the rulers of our land hear the words of Your mouth which are found
in Your inspired word, and respond by praising You, O Lord.
Yes, may they all sing of Your ways, for great is Your glory, O Lord.
Proverbs 25:4-5
Lord, we pray for those whom You have raised up to govern us.
Take away the dross from the silver, O Lord, so that it may go
to the silversmith for jewelry.
That is, O Lord, take away from the presence of
our governing authorities any who would give them wicked counsel, so that
our government will be established in righteousness.
Purge away the dross, O Lord, and give us righteous government.
Proverbs 28:16
O Lord, we pray for our civil magistrates. Give them understanding from
Your word that they may rule within the boundaries of justice. Protect them
from temptations to covet what is not rightfully theirs as they exercise
authority
over others. For a ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor,
but one who hates covetousness will prolong his days in power.
Isaiah 49:7
We pray for our nation's governing authorities. May they submit to the
authority of Christ and obey Him. We pray that more and more kings of the earth
will see Him with the eyes of faith and reverently arise from their thrones
in His honor,
that more and more princes will also prostrate themselves before Him in
worship, because You, O Lord, who are faithful and the Holy One
of Israel, have chosen Jesus and have made Him King of kings and Lord of
lords.
Isaiah 52:15
O Lord, we pray for our civil authorities. The ancient prophet said that even
kings would be speechless and dumbfounded before the Christ. We pray that
our own rulers would have such a respect for Jesus that they will
recognize His universal authority and observe His teachings as they relate
to the administration of government.
Amos 5:24
We pray for the authorities whom You have raised up to govern our land as
legislators and judges and executives. Turn their hearts toward Your truth
so that righteousness might roll on like a river and justice like a mighty
stream.
Matthew 22:21
O Lord, You commanded us to render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's
and to You the things that are Yours. We thank You that we have a political
heritage which not only recognizes our responsibility to give to You
that which is Yours but also encourages our doing so through our tax code.
We thank You for this heritage and pray that we will continue to enjoy it.
Matthew 22:21
We pray, O Lord, for our civil magistrates. You commanded us, O Lord, to
render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to You the things that are
Yours.
O Lord, we thank You that we live under a form of government which
recognizes that only a portion of our wealth rightfully belongs to Caesar.
Protect us, O Lord, from the spirit of the Exodus Pharaoh who claimed as his
own all the property of the people he governed.
Romans 13:1-4
O Lord, we pray for our governing civil authorities whom You have raised up
to rule over us. May they serve as Your servants for good, O God. May our
government praise those who do good works
and be a terror to those who practice evil, executing the avenger's wrath
upon them. May our government never praise those who practice evil and never
be a terror to those who do good.
