Genesis 14:18
|
O Lord, we praise You for Jesus, our priest according to the order of
Melchizedek, who was both king of Salem and priest of God Most High.
In our worship, we today follow the example of Abraham by giving to Christ
through His church our tithes and offerings. We seek His blessings upon us,
even as Melchizedek blessed Abraham.
|
|
Genesis 14:18-20
|
O Heavenly Father, we thank You that in Jesus Christ, we have victory over
sin, the world, the devil and the grave. Now, O Lord, we follow the example
of Abraham, who, after You had delivered his enemies into his hands,
gave a tithe of the spoils to Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God
Most High. We now bring before You in worship our tithes and offerings.
Accept them, O Lord, as a sincere expression of our devotion
and use them for the advancement of Your kingdom.
|
|
Deuteronomy 4:18
|
O Lord, as we prepare to worship You this morning with our tithes and
offerings, we humbly confess that it is not our power nor the might of our
hands which have gained us our wealth.
We humbly remember that You and You alone, O Lord, are the one who has
given us the power to get wealth. Apart from You, we can do nothing. Apart
from You, we are nothing.
Now, O Lord, bless us again by giving us the power to bring our gifts
before You freely and generously and thankfully such that they will ascend
before You as a sweet smelling savor.
|
|
Deuteronomy 7:12-13
|
O Lord, we praise You that You have blessed us in so many ways, both in the
spiritual realm and in the physical realm, both in this life and in the life
to come. On this day, we thank You especially that You have blessed
many of us with the fruit of the womb, with children and with children's
children. We have assembled together to express our gratitude through worship,
including our worship through the giving of our tithes and offerings.
Accept this bloodless sacrifice of new covenant worship, O Lord, as a sweet
smelling savor.
|
|
Deuteronomy 8:17-18
|
O Lord, we live in an age of unprecedented abundance. We all have creature
comforts and conveniences beyond those of kings in ages past. We are tempted
to think with pride that we have gained this wealth through our own power
and the might of our own hand. O Lord, deliver us from such delusions and
enable us to remember You, for it is You who gives us power to get wealth.
We give You the glory, O Lord, and we now seek to worship You
by bringing before You our tithes and offerings from the wealth which you
have first given us.
|
|
Deuteronomy 12:10-12a
|
O Lord, we thank You that Jesus Christ, our Savior, has conquered sin, the
world, Satan, death and the grave. Truly Jesus has given us rest from all
our enemies round about us, and we rejoice before You, O Lord.
We also express our thanks today by bringing before You in worship our tithes
and offerings. Accept our gifts, O Lord, as expressions of our sincere
devotion to You, and bless them to the advancement of Your kingdom.
|
|
1 Chronicles 29:17-18
|
O Lord, as we now prepare to worship You with our tithes and offerings, we
know that You take into account not only the gifts which we bring before You
but also the spirit in which we bring these gifts,
for You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. Now, O Lord, fix
our heart toward You, and enable us to give to You willingly, and keep this
forever in the intent of the thoughts of our heart.
|
|
2 Chronicles 31:4-5
|
O Lord, we want to worship You at this time by contributing support for Your
new covenant church that Your new covenant ministers might devote
themselves to Your new covenant worship and service.
As an act of worship, we want to provide the material resources needed
that the preacher whom You have called might preach, that the pastors whom You
have called might pastor and that the deacons whom You have called might
serve.
Now, O Lord, bless us as we bring before You in abundance the firstfruits
of the increase we have received from You. Now, O Lord, bless us as we bring
before You in abundance an offering in proportion to the material blessings
s
You have showered upon us.
|
|
Psalm 37:21-22
|
O Lord, we thank You that You have by Your sovereign grace transformed us
from the wicked who borrow and do not repay into the righteous who show mercy
and give. And we also thank You that you bless us and will continue
to bless us until we ultimately inherit the earth. Now, O Lord, enable us
to exercise our transformed heart and to express our gratitude for Your
blessings upon us as we worship You through our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Psalm 104:13-15
|
O Lord, we pray that You will give us this day our daily bread; for You
water the hills from Your upper chambers; You cause the grass to grow for the
cattle, and vegetation for the service of man, that he may bring forth food
from the earth,
and wine that makes his heart glad, oil to make his face shine, and bread
which strengthens his heart.
|
|
Psalm 119:70b,72
|
O Lord, Your revelation of Yourself is more previous to us than silver and
gold. We thank You for Your revealed will, for Your moral law tells us what
pleases You and what is truly best for us.
And now, O Lord, we express our gratitude to You by bringing before You in
worship our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Psalm 119:70
|
O Lord, we are rich indeed, for You have spoken, and we have Your inspired
word in the pages of holy Scripture. We delight in Your revelation, O Lord,
for the word of Your mouth is better to us than thousands of coins
minted from the purest gold and silver. Now, O Lord, empower us for worship
as we seek to express our gratitude to You for all Your many blessings to
us by bringing before You in worship our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Jonah 2:7-9
|
Father, we thank You that by Your grace we have not gathered together today
to worship idols, which are the vain work of men's hands and the deceptive
product of human imagination. We thank You, O Lord, that You have
mercifully subdued us
to Yourself and have enabled us by Your grace to know and acknowledge You
to be the only true God and our God. And now, O Lord, we seek to express our
gratitude for this great salvation by worshipping You today through our
tithes and offerings.
Work faith in our hearts, O God, and fill us with gratitude that we may
bring our gifts before You at this time as a pure and sincere act of worship.
|
|
Jonah 2:7-9
|
O Lord, in our weakness, we remember You and our prayers go up to You. We
thank you that we have not regarded worthless idols and thus forsaken the
mercy which is found in You alone. We praise You, O Lord, for our salvation
is of You, the LORD.
And we now seek to worship You, O Lord, by bringing before You in worship
our tithes and offerings, and we do so with the voice of thanksgiving.
|
|
Nahum 1:15a
|
O Lord, we rejoice in the good tidings of the gospel message that we are at
peace with You, the Lord our God, through the saving work of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ.
We have assembled before You, O Lord, on the Lord's Day, the day appointed
for new covenant worship, that we might fulfill our new covenant obligation
obligations and bring before You in worship our tithes and offerings.
May our worship ascend before You, O Lord, as a sweet smelling savor.
|
|
Matthew 2:11
|
Heavenly Father, we thank You that we now have an opportunity to follow the
example of the wise men from the East who long ago worshiped Christ with
gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Even as You sent Your wondrous star to guide the wise men, shine the light
of Your Spirit in our hearts today and bring us to Christ through faith
that we may present our gifts before Him as a sincere act of worship.
|
|
Matthew 5:16
|
O Lord, fill our lamp with the oil of Your Holy Spirit; trim our wick by
strengthening our hatred for our sin; and brighten our flame with the light
of the spiritual life which is ours through our faith in Jesus Christ.
And enable us, O Lord, to shine forth to Your glory at this time as we bring
before You our tithes and offerings willingly, sincerely and generously.
Use our offerings, O Lord, for the advancement of Your kingdom and for the
support of ministry which exalts Your Name and brings You honor.
|
|
Matthew 6:1-4
|
Heavenly Father, be with us and bless us as we prepare to worship You today
through our tithes and offerings. We know, O Lord, that you notice not onl
y what we give but the spirit in which we give it. May we not, O Lord, give
our gifts
to You and Your church in order to be seen by men and to have glory before
men. We pray, O Lord, that both our gift and our heart motive in giving the
gift will ascend before You as the sweet smelling aroma of sincere and tru
e worship.
|
|
Matthew 6:19-21
|
O Lord, though our physical bodies are here on earth, yet our hearts are in
heaven through faith by the mystical working of Your Holy Spirit.
We worship You today on earth together with the angelic hosts
and the sacred assembly of departed saints in heaven. We worship You today
not only with our prayers and our songs of praise but also with our
offerings.
We thank You for this opportunity to lay up for ourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in
and steal.
|
|
Matthew 6:24
|
Heavenly Father, prepare us now as we seek to worship You through our tithes
and offerings, for we know that You see not only our gifts but also our
heart attitudes as we offer our gifts to You.
Enable us now to bring our offerings before You as an expression that
You are our first love and not our material possessions, that we serve You first
and not our money, that our first loyalty is to You and not to our
portfolio.
|
|
Matthew 6:24
|
O Lord, we cannot serve two masters. We will either hate the one and love
the other, or else we will be loyal to the one and despise the other. O Lord,
fill us with love for You. Enable us to give to You alone our ultimate
and final loyalty.
Free us from all idolatry, O Lord. Free us from giving to anything or anyone
in all of creation that worship and glory which is due to You alone. Help
us now, O Lord, to express that ultimate loyalty to You through our tithes
and offerings,
which we now bring before You in worship.
|
|
Matthew 6:25-26
|
O Lord, You feed the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. We pray,
O Lord, that You will also provide for us, Your people, for You have created
us in Your image and have redeemed us with the blood of Christ.
Now, O Lord, enable us to express our gratitude to You for our creation, for
our sustenance and for our redemption. Enable us, O Lord, to worship You
through our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Matthew 6:31-33
|
O heavenly Father, we pray that You will so strengthen our faith in Christ
and so conform us to His image that we will be more concerned about our
spiritual well-being than about our physical well-being, that our first
priority will
not be what we shall eat or drink or wear but how we can best submit to the
kingship of and conform to the righteousness of Jesus Christ, our Savior
and Example. Now, O Lord, we pray that you will accept
our tithes and offerings as an expression of our commitment to Your
kingdom and as an act of worship and devotion.
|
|
Matthew 6:33
|
Father, enable us now to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness by
taking a responsible portion of the material wealth which You have entrusted
to us and giving it back to You as a free act of worship.
Deliver us from useless worry about what we will eat and what we will drink
and what we will wear. Enable us instead to focus our energy and
attention on procuring, managing, furthering and using our material wealth
lawfully, prayerfully and responsibly. Now enable us to give our gifts to
You as joyful and generous givers so that our giving will ascend before You
as genuine worship.
|
|
Matthew 10:7-8
|
O Lord, we praise You today for Your many blessings to us. You have brought
Your holy kingdom to us, and You have healed us both in body and in soul.
We have freely received, O Lord, and now we give of that which we have first
received from You as we worship You today with our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Matthew 10:7-8
|
O Lord, we praise You today for Your many blessings to us. You have brought
Your holy kingdom to us, and You have healed us both in body and in soul.
We have freely received, O Lord,
and now we give of that which we have first received from You as we worship
You today with our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Matthew 13:44-46
|
O God, there is truly nothing that compares to the excellence of the
knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord. He is our Pearl of Great Prince. He is our
hidden Treasure. We have nothing more precious than our relationship with
Jesus Christ,
nothing which even comes close in comparison. Now, O Lord, we thank You for
this opportunity to express our gratitude for our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ by our bringing before You our tithes and offerings as an act of
worship.
|
|
Matthew 16:24-25
|
O Lord, help us to appreciate the paradox that if we save our life for our
own selfish purposes, that we will lose our life, and that if we lose our
life in service to You and Your kingdom, then we will find our life.
O Lord, enable us to find our life today as we seek to worship You through
our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Matthew 16:25-26
|
O Lord, bless us now as we seek to worship You through our tithes and
offerings. Enable us to lose our life in Your worship and service, O Lord,
that we may find our life in terms of significance, meaning and lasting
value.
For, O Lord, to save our life for our own selfish ends is to lose our life.
And what does it profit us, O Lord, if we gain the whole world and yet
lose our own soul?
Enable us now, O Lord, to give in sincerity through our offerings
that we may receive Your blessings upon us in abundance.
|
|
Matthew 16:26-27
|
O Lord, bless us now as we seek to worship You through our tithes and
offerings. For what does it profit us, O Lord, if we gain the whole world and
yet lose our own soul? Enable us, O Lord, to worship You today from the heart
as we give to You our tithes and offerings, for we know that the Son of Man
will one day come in Your glory with Your angels and will then reward each
according to his works.
|
|
Matthew 25:34-36,40
|
O heavenly Father, we thank You that Jesus so identifies with His church as
His body and bride that when we do good unto one of the least of His
brethren, we do good unto Him. We thank You also that those who do good unto
Him are blessed of You and will inherit the kingdom prepared for them from the
foundation of the world. Enable us now, O Lord, to do good unto Jesus
and His church by presenting to You in worship our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Luke 6:38
|
O Lord, Your gifts to us are all like a generous measure of grain that has
been pressed down and shaken together and that is running over. We thank You
most of all for the gift of Your Son as our Savior
and for the application of His salvation to our hearts and lives through Your
Holy Spirit. Now accept our gifts, O Lord, as we seek to worship You and
to express our gratitude to You through our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Luke 11:11-13
|
O Lord, even as the wicked give good things to their children, how much more
do You give good things to us who are Your children through faith in Christ.
We praise You that You have sent Your Holy Spirit to us to apply to our
hearts and lives the saving benefits purchased for us by the redeeming work
of Jesus Christ. And now, O Lord, enable us to express our gratitude as we
now worship You through our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Luke 11:11-13; Matthew 10:8b
|
O heavenly Father, we thank You for Your goodness to us. For when we have
asked for bread, You have not given us a stone; when we have asked for a
fish, You have not given us a serpent; when we have asked for an egg,
You have not offered us a scorpion. No, O Lord, You have blessed us beyond
measure with the saving work of Your Son Jesus Christ applied to us by Your
Holy Spirit, whom You have poured out upon us in new covenant fullness.
O heavenly Father, we now express our gratitude as Your covenant children
by worshipping You today with our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Luke 12:19-21
|
O Lord, may we live this life with a realistic awareness of its brevity and
uncertainty. May we not be as those who live only for leisure and the
pleasures of the moment. May we not be as those who live only to amass more
earthly
wealth than they will ever have opportunity to spend in this life. May we
not be as those who lay up treasure for themselves but are not rich toward
You, O God. Enable us now to lay up treasure for You, O Lord, as we bring
before You our tithes and offerings in worship. Make us rich toward You,
O God, with a lasting wealth that will not pass away.
|
|
Luke 19:8-10
|
O Lord, we thank You that our Savior Jesus came to seek and to save that which
was lost. We thank You that He found us and saved us. We thank You that
salvation has come to our houses, to us and to our children.
We thank You that we are now sons of Abraham in the truest and most
significant sense of the word. O Lord, we now seek to express our gratitude for
this great salvation by bringing before You in worship our tithes and
offerings.
|
|
John 6:27
|
O Lord, we thank You for Jesus and His saving work, for He is our spiritual
life and nourishment. We thank You that Jesus has given us the food which
endures to everlasting life.
We also thank You, O Lord, for the food which perishes, because it sustains
our physical life. O Lord, we now express our gratitude by bringing before
You in worship our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Acts 2:16-17a; Matthew 10:8b
|
O Father, we praise You that we are privileged to live in this age in which
the atoning work of Christ has been accomplished once for all time and in
which Your Holy Spirit continues to be poured out upon Your people in new
covenant fullness.
We also praise You that the blessings we now have, great as they are, are
but the earnest and guarantee of greater blessings to come. Father, as we
meditate upon these blessings which the patriarchs longed for but which we
have received,
we thank You. And we also express that graditude by worshipping You at this
time with our tithes and offerings. Receive them, O Father, as an offering
of worship and use them for the advancement of Your kingdom on earth.
|
|
Acts 4:32-33
|
Heavenly Father, we thank You that You have shed Your grace upon us and have
worked with power in our hearts and lives through the apostolic witness
to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
Now, O Lord, strengthen our faith in Jesus that we may with one heart and
one soul worship You today by cheerfully and generously presenting to You
our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Acts 11:27-30
|
Father, we thank You for this example given to us by the early disciples at
Syrian Antioch, the city where the disciples of Christ were first called
Christians. They gave, each according to his ability as you prospered them,
in order to meet the needs of Your church. They entrusted these gifts to
the elders of the church in Judea in accordance with the structure of
authority which You had established in the church.
Bless us now, O Lord, as we seek to follow their example by offering to You
today our tithes and offerings as an act of worship and by entrusting
these gifts to our church's elders, who oversee the work of our local church.
|
|
Acts 10:4
|
O Lord, we thank You that You have transformed us into a people who, like
the Roman centurion Cornelius, want to honor You through both our prayers
and our alms.
May the worship we offer You today, O God, through both our prayers and our
gifts, come up before You as a memorial which You will remember on the day
of judgment when
You say to Your people, "Well done, good and faithful servants."
|
|
1 Corinthians 15:57-58
|
O Lord, we know that our labor is not in vain in the Lord, for Jesus is risen
and the future is His. We thank You, O Lord, that we now have an opportunity
both to worship You and to support the work of Your kingdom on earth
through our tithes and offerings. Accept our offerings, O Lord, as a sincere
expression of our heart felt worship, and bless them as a means of
advancing Your kingdom.
|
|
2 Corinthians 8:9; Phil 2:7; Gal 3:13
|
O Heavenly Father, we now praise You for Your only-begotten Son Jesus
Christ. He became poor that we through His poverty might become rich. He emptied
Himself that we might be filled with all the fullness of God.
He became a curse (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs upon a
tree") that we might be blessed in Him. Now, O Lord, enable us through the
power of Christ's sacrifice to follow the example of Christ's sacrifice.
Enable us now to give freely, joyfully and generously of the material
riches which You have entrusted to us, as an offering to glorify You through
worship and to advance Your kingdom upon the earth.
|
|
2 Corinthians 8:9
|
O heavenly Father, we thank You for the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ as
evidenced by His incarnation and humiliation, a humiliation which reached
down even to the shameful and painful death of the cross.
We thank You that He was willing to experience such depths of poverty that
we might possess the riches of salvation. We now, O Lord, express our
gratitude by bringing before You in worship our tithes and offerings.
|
|
2 Corinthians 9:13
|
O Lord, we now prepare to worship You through our tithes and offerings. We
pray that the obedience of our confession of the gospel of Christ and the
liberality of our giving will be such that they will inspire others to
glorify You,
O God, for the power of the working of Your grace in our midst.
|
|
Ephesians 2:10
|
O Father, we thank You that we are Your workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works. In our salvation, You have put within our hearts a deep
desire to please you and to do good works as You have defined them in Your
revealed will.
We know from Your word that You delight in our offerings when we bring them
before You willingly as an expression of our gratitude. Enable us at this
time to bring our gifts before You as an act of sincere worship.
And we pray that You will bless these gifts towards the true advancement of
Your kingdom.
|
|
Ephesians 2:10
|
O heavenly Father, we thank you that we are indeed Your workmanship
created in Christ Jesus for good works. Now, O Lord, enable us to walk in
those good works as we prepare at this time to worship You with our tithes
and offerings.
|
|
Ephesians 3:8-11
|
O Lord, we thank You for the unsearchable riches of Christ. We thank You for
a salvation that is so great that it makes known Your wisdom to the
principalities and powers in the heavenly places; that is, Your holy angels.
And now, O Lord, we come to express our gratitude by bringing before You our
tithes and offerings as an act of worship.
|
|
Philipians 3:8-9
|
O Lord, our greatest possession in life is the excellence of the knowledge
of Christ Jesus our Lord. Our greatest desire, O Lord, is that we may gain
Christ and be found in Him. Compared to Christ, O Lord, we regard all else
as if it were merely rubbish. And now, O Lord, we glory in this opportunity
to express our gratitude for the righteousness which You have given us
through faith in Christ, as we now worship You through our tithes and
offerings.
|
|
1 Timothy 5:17-18
|
O Lord, we thank You for Your inspired Word, Your infallible written
revelation. We thank You also for all those whom You have called to labor in the
word and doctrine.
We thank You for this opportunity to support through our gifts the preaching
and teaching of Your word. And also, O Lord, accepts our gifts as an act
of worship.
|
|
1 Timothy 6:9-10
|
O Lord, we thank you for our material riches, for even the poor among us
have creature comforts and technological conveniences beyond anything imagined
in earlier ages. O Lord, enable us to enjoy these material blessings
without idolizing
them. Protect us from an insatiable desire for ever more wealth, from
foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction, from a love of money
that is a root of all kinds of evil, from the greed which has caused
some to stray from the faith and to pierce themselves through with many
sorrows. Protect us from such destructive idolatries, O Lord, as we now
seek to worship You by bringing before You our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Titus 2:11-14
|
O Lord, we thank for the salvation that is ours through our great God and
Savior Jesus Christ. We thank You that He has redeemed us from every lawless
deed and has purified for Himself His own special people, zealous for good
works.
Now, O Lord, bless us and enable us as we seek to express that zeal by
worshipping You this morning with our tithes and offerings.
|
|
Hebrews 13:5-6
|
O Lord, may our conduct be without covetousness, and may we be content with
such things as we have. For You, O Lord, are our helper, and You will never
leave us nor forsake us.
Help us now, O Lord our helper, to maintain that confident assurance and to
worship You sincerely and generously at this time with our tithes and
offerings.
|
|
Hebrews 13:15-16
|
O Lord, we Your people have assembled today to worship You, and we offer
before You the sacrifice of praise, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks
to Your our name.
We also, O Lord, bring before You in worship our tithes and offerings.
Empower us, O Lord, through our faith union with Jesus that our worship may be
sincere and thus pleasing unto You.
|
|
James 1:16-17
|
O heavenly Father, we acknowledge that every good gift and every perfect gift
which we receive in this life is from above, and comes down to us from
You, the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of
turning.
We praise You for this, O Lord, and we now seek to express our gratitude by
bringing before You in worship our tithes and our offerings.
|
|
1 Peter 1:17-19
|
O Father, as we prepare to worship You through our tithes and offerings, we
are mindful of the ransom price paid by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He redeemed us not with corruptible things such as silver and gold
but with His own precious blood, as of a lamb without spot and blemish. As
we think upon the price which Jesus paid that He might freely give us
salvation without price, fill our hearts, O God, with gratitude.
Enable us now to express that gratitude to Your glory as we bring our
offerings before You for the support and advancement of Your kingdom on earth.
|
|
1 John 3:17-18
|
O Lord, we thank You that when You saw us in our need as guilty sinners in
bondage to sinful living, that You did not shut up Your heart to us but
instead sent Jesus to die for us and the gospel message to inform us and the
Holy Spirit
to work faith in our hearts. You loved us, O Lord, not merely in word or in
tongue but also in deed and in truth. O Lord, enable us now to express our
love for You not merely in word or in tongue but also in deed and in truth
as we now worship You through our tithes and offerings.
